The Very Late Cardiff Meet Journal

Sat Sep 1, 2007, 11:42 AM
  • Listening to: The zen-like humming of my computer
  • Reading: Garth Nix - Shade's Children
  • Watching: My monitor - there are flies humping it.
  • Drinking: Vimto cordial mixed with fanta.

Edit: Cardiff meet pictures have now been moved to scraps. :)
Edit 2: Edited to include *mailorderchild's collages. :)

Since it's so late, this'll be short. Yeah I really need to be a bit quicker on the uptake with the journalling.

Well an ace day in the park was had by all, thanks to the lovely ^maxwell-heza's organisational skills. She even managed to get sunshines for us! Yay! :boogie:

*thedreamwolf brought along some space-hoppers called Daredevil, Psycho and... something I can't remember. Amusingly, it was discovered that space-hoppers are actually heavier when they're empty than they are when blown up. Go figure.

She also bought on the day a wondrous bubble-masheen that blew bubbles like nobody's business and led to many cries of 'ohnoes, bubbles!' as the bubbles randomly hit people. And cries of 'Bubble-sex!' as they had, well, what we can only imagine was bubble-sex. :D

Mega-twister was enjoyed, with three mats and lots of deviants joining in and having much more fun than should be legal while sober (although by that time some of them probably weren't).

The obligatory Poi also made their appearance, and I enjoyed thwacking myself on the head repeatedly as I stubbornly refuse to accept that I cannot Poi to save my life.:D It's the same every time, but I will never learn.

After the meet it was back to Max's for some of us to enjoy much pizza and Harry Potter and general chaos and fun. The infamous Cardiff Meet Video was made - this year it was 'Hit my Britnee one last time'... or something. :D

Thank you so much max for letting us invade your home for the night

Sadly not all went well as a PS3 controller belonging to the equally lovely Ceri, who had brought his console for playing on, got damaged. Max and Ceri were understandably upset, but a request for donations has since yielded money for a new controller, plus some extra monies for the next meet, so thanks to all who put in for that.

That's about it. Here are some of the pics I've seen of the meet so far, including mine. :D See you at the next one!

See the video here: [link] Please right click and download, don't use all of Zilla's bandwidth, it makes him go 'wibble' and hide in the corner

:giggle:

On another note - this year's Focus is coming up between the 25th and 28th of February. Is anyone planning on going?

More info here: [link]

Addition: I have a prints account that currently has only one print in it (the first 'regular size' deviation I uploaded after getting account). If I upload more prints, which ones (if any) would you like to see available for purchase? Would you buy anything if the prices were right? Be honest. :D

That will be all.

Upcoming Meets:
July 28th - `greenie's Monopoly Pub Crawl meet
June 30th - =maxwell-heza's Cardiff Summer meet

I Give In.....

Mon Nov 6, 2006, 5:46 PM
  • Reading: Monkey Taming - I finally found it in my bag!
  • Watching: Brokeback Mountain
  • Drinking: Cherryade

Okay so I got myself a new subscription. :D Yay!
I also got a print account. :D Yay Yay!
It doesn't have anything in it yet. :(
But it will have. :D
People probably won't buy anything though.

Aaaaaanyway. Tonight I came on to check out my journals and things, and four out of four had this new meme thing in them. I answered them, and because it was quite interesting and fun, thought I'd actually do it in here this time. I don't normally, but here I have. :) So. Please do it? :)

• Who are you?
• Are we friends?
• When and how did we meet?
• Would you kiss me? Where?
• Give me a nickname and explain why?
• Describe me in one word!
• What was your first impression of me?
• Do you still think the same?
• What reminds you of me?
• If you could give me anything what would it be?
• How well do you know me?
• Would you ever meet up with me?
• Are you going to put this on your journal and see what I say about you?

Upcoming Meets:
December 16th - `cei-'s annual London Christmas Meet

An Ending.... And An Edit

Sat Oct 28, 2006, 5:45 PM
  • Listening to: Computer Zen
  • Reading: Wintersmith - Terry Pratchett
  • Watching: Dinnerladies
  • Drinking: Cherryade

My subscription comes to an end on Sunday. :cries: I'm not sure what time it'll suddenly click back to 'member' though.

At the moment I can't afford to get a new one, but I'd decided anyway to give it at least a few days before I get another. I want to see what the site is like now for members who don't subscribe.

One of the main reasons I subscribed in the first place was to get the nice big thumbnails in galleries. Since with the advent of the wonderful DAv5 (see the sarcasm there?), these are now available to members as well as subscribers.

The journal enhancements (headers, footers and the ability to include thumbnails) have been nice, but anyone who watches me knows I don't update very often so it's not exactly essential to me. :D

I shall decide soon.

==========

In other news: I've just done a blitz on my gallery and moved several images to scraps. This is not because I've decided I don't like them - if that were the case I would have deactivated or deleted them. The reason is simply that I feel that my work (as well as my camera) has improved, and they are no longer good enough quality compared to my newer pieces to remain in my main gallery.

Some of the pieces moved have comments and favourites attached to them, and I'm still grateful for these. :)

I have also moved all of my devMEET collage/montage pictures to scraps. I know that there is a proper category for these, but I don't think they really belong in the main gallery, which is where the devMEET category shows the thumbnails for them.

In future I will upload the montages to the main gallery and then move them to scraps after about a month, which gives all the people who went to the meet or those who didn't but are still interested the chance to see them and comment if they wish without having to search for them. :)

The image of Raygirl on the fountain, although technically a devMEET picture and currently placed in that gallery, I consider to be a portrait (and I'm still deciding whether to move it to a different category), so for now that stays.

If anyone looking at my gallery thinks there's something I should move to scraps, or something I should move FROM scraps and back to the main gallery, let me know and I'll have another look at that piece. :)

I wanted to put my desktop screenshot in scraps too, but when I did that it no longer showed on my front page. I consider the fact that a simple screen dump should show in your main gallery strange, but I didn't design the site. ;)

That's all for now folks. :D
